Prof. ZULKEPLI BIN MAJID

Biography: Dr. Zulkepli Bin Majid is currently a full professor at the Department of Geoinformation, Faculty of Built Environment and Surveying, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, MALAYSIA. He received his bachelor, master, and PhD degrees in the field of Geomatics Engineering from the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, the university where he currently works. He began serving as an academic staff member in 1999, and has now served for 26 years with UTM, one of the research universities in Malaysia. His area of specialization is in 3D geospatial mapping and modelling from point cloud data acquired from various geospatial technologies such as photogrammetry and 3D laser scanning (LiDAR). Therefore, data fusion is one of the important issues involved in his research work, especially when it involves combining point cloud data sets from various geospatial technologies. Apart from his duties as an academician, Prof Zulkepli is also the founder of Photo Laser Grammetry company, a private limited spin-off companies owned by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, that commercializes an innovative research products and services based on geospatial concept and framework.
